About Me
Carrie is from Kansas City and found her way to Houston for graduate school in the Moores Opera Center at the University of Houston. She performed with the Houston Grand Opera chorus for ten years. She began her higher education career at San Jacinto College before returning to UH as an Academic Advisor, and eventually becoming the founding Executive Director of Academic Affairs for the College of the Arts. Now Carrie serves the university as the Director of Curriculum Management in the Office of the University Registrar, in addition to teaching freshman College Success courses. The reason Carrie loves to work in higher education is to help students navigate through college and think about all of the exciting possibilities life offers along their path, as she has done in advising, teaching, and now coaching. You can hear Carrie talk about this more on her podcast, Paths in Progress, where professionals across a variety of industries discuss that it's ok to not know what the future holds and how each step along your path will lead you to where you are meant to go. She encourages students to embrace their individuality and learn how your unique contribution is valuable in whatever space you enter. Carrie is an avid reader and a mom of two elementary aged children and a chocolate lab.
