Eligibility Requirements

 

Master’s Degree

any field of study

Minimum 2.6 GPA

3.0 preferred

Principal Certification

The GRE is not required for this program.

 

For international students: This program does not meet the requirements for studying in the U.S. with an F-1 or J-1 visa.

 

Application Materials

Applicants must submit the following 2 applications and respective materials to be considered for admission into the Superintendent Certification program.

Main Application

The following materials should be submitted through the ApplyWeb application:

Your resume should include your academic history, professional experience, and, if applicable, any relevant research and publications.

Upload a PDF of your official transcript for initial review. If admitted, you must have your official transcripts sent directly to UH. View transcript instructions.

A recommender should be able to comment on your academic potential in graduate school and leadership potential in the field of study. You will provide contact information for references and they will receive an email with instructions.

Please note, this program is interested in recruiting students who are committed to the success of all students and have a clear vision for themselves and their professional future.

 

Write a statement of interest that addresses the following:

  • Articulate what inspires you to seek a career in educational leadership, and your connection to the vision and mission of the College of Education and the strategies of the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies.
  • Explain how the program relates to your personal and professional short- and long-term goals.

Format:

  • Approximately 1,000 words, double-spaced
  • Times New Roman font (12 point)
  • 1-inch margins
The application fee is $25.

All graduate applicants, regardless of citizenship status, must demonstrate proficiency in English to obtain admission to UH. Many applicants meet this requirement based on earning an undergraduate degree in the United States and do not need to submit documentation beyond their transcript. Admissions Decisions

  • Applicants will receive email confirmation via ApplyWeb when all required documents have been received.
  • Admission decisions will be posted in ApplyWeb. You must formally accept your admissions offer in ApplyWeb in order to enroll.
