The Creative Collective LLC is a community and homebase for students across all majors who are creative, innovative, design-minded, artistic and imaginative—whether they paint, code, write music, engineer solutions, choreograph movement, craft stories, or dream up new ways to solve problems. By living together and learning together, Creative Collective members will challenge themselves and each other to embrace different perspectives and practices, blend disciplines, and push creative boundaries.

Here, “creative” means embracing curiosity, thinking beyond convention, experimenting boldly and turning inspiration into action. Using creativity as a launchpad for concrete and conceptual discoveries in the performing arts such as plays and performances, built or virtual landscapes like the ones found in architecture and gaming platforms, or AI and maker spaces in digital and design media—just a  few pathways for exploration among many—residents will be empowered to make meaningful connections and contributions to their chosen majors and future careers—whether in art, business, STEM, humanities, or beyond.

Why Should I Join this LLC? 

Creative Collective community members will be introduced to and interact with faculty, staff, and peers who will inspire them to expand their horizons, seek new experiences, and extend their reach to achieve personal as well as academic goals. The Creative Collective focuses on and values its students’ holistic growth–building confidence, resilience, and a network that lasts.  

How Will I Benefit?

• We prioritize an innovative and imaginative design mindset that draws from different perspectives, practices and disciplines.
• We provide a broad personal consideration of design in the world, such as exemplified through a UH campus design walking tour, including formal campus art, building design, design in nature, etc.
• You will have the opportunity to take part in monthly maker spaces and projects, studio talks from faculty partners, lectures series and mix and mingle gatherings.
• Our community encourages students to innovate fearlessly, communicate a vision, and contribute uniquely to the world. 

Where Will I Live? 

This community is part of Cougar Village. You will live in a two-bedroom suite with two students per furnished bedroom and a private bathroom per suite. Other amenities include:

• Mini fridges in room

• Study rooms
• Outdoor living room
• Cougar Village Market (convenience store)
• Adjacent Moody Towers Dining Hall

Eligibility Requirements  

• Freshmen from any major
• Enroll in common section of USS 1301 College Success, which satisfies UH Core Writing in the Discipline

How Do I Apply? 

Visit the myHousing application in AccessUH and select Creative Collective LLC. Applications are due June 30th. Spaces are limited, so apply early.
