Coursework & Degree Plan Specialist in School Psychology
A minimum of 63 semester credit hours (SCH) is required to complete the Specialist in School Psychology degree. The program is typically completed over three years.
Program requirements include coursework, practicum, internship, and successful completion of the Praxis II Licensure Exam and the Texas Jurisprudence Exam.
Courses are delivered in online, face-to-face, and hybrid formats. Face-to-face courses are offered at the University of Houston Katy campus, and some courses allow students to attend in person at either the UH main campus or the UH Katy campus, with classrooms connected via live video instruction. Hybrid courses include face-to-face components but meet less frequently than traditional courses (e.g., meeting every other week).
Internship coursework in year 3 is delivered online and includes required synchronous experiential components, such as live supervision, scheduled meetings, and applied field-based practice completed in school settings.
