CASA Tutoring Center

The Goal of the Mathematics Department’s Tutoring Center is to help students learn math. Please note that we only tutor students who are enrolled in a University of Houston undergraduate math class.

What to expect

  • A friendly staff eager to help you succeed in math.
  • Tutoring done in a clear, patient, and understandable manner.
  • One on one tutoring.
  • Time to sit down with a tutor and ask specific questions.
  • Computers on hand for quiz-taking or for viewing online lectures.

 

Eligibility

Tutoring services are available to students currently enrolled in University of Houston undergraduate mathematics courses supported by CASA. Please review the following tutoring center policies and participation requirements before scheduling or attending a session.

 

CASA Tutoring Center Rules

Students: Please read our updated rules for the CASA Tutoring Center.

  • IMPORTANT: Any new student must register his/her Photo and FingerPrint prior to check-in the Tutoring Center. This is a ONE TIME process at CASA-CBB Testing Center, room 242, down the hallway or at CASA-GAR Testing Center.
  • No appointment is required.
  • Only students who are currently enrolled in undergraduate mathematics courses offered by UH Central - Math Department are eligible for help (i.e. MATHxxxx). There are no exceptions to this rule!
  • Tutors are not expected to do your online quizzes while they are in process, to do your assignments or to teach you material you have not studied.
  • Cell phone must be turned off or on silent mode.
  • Bring your own books and supplies.
  • No food and/or drinks allowed.

 

What to Bring

To make the most of your tutoring session, students should bring the following items when visiting the Tutoring Center:

  • UH Cougar Card or another valid photo ID
  • Textbook or course materials
  • Class notes and completed homework
  • Current assignments or practice problems
  • Calculator (if required for your course)
  • Writing materials, including pencils, pens, and paper

Tutoring location: CBB - Room 234

In- person hours:

Spring & Fall Semester Summer Semester
Monday - Thursday: 9am - 6pm Monday - Thursday: 10am - 4pm
Friday: 9am - 2pm
Friday: 10am - 4pm

 

Other Tutoring Centers

In addition to CASA tutoring services, the University of Houston offers several academic support centers designed to help students succeed across a variety of subjects and skill areas.

  • LAUNCH Tutoring Services

LAUNCH  provides tutoring and academic coaching for a wide range of undergraduate courses beyond mathematics. Students should use LAUNCH for support in subjects such as science, business, writing, and learning strategies, as well as for assistance with study skills and academic success techniques.

  • Math Departmental Tutoring

The Department of Mathematics also offers course-specific tutoring and support resources for students enrolled in higher-level mathematics courses. Students seeking advanced mathematical assistance or department-based academic support should explore these services in addition to CASA tutoring.

  • Writing Center

The Writing Center  supports undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and staff by helping writers improve their communication skills across all disciplines. Students can receive assistance at any stage of the writing process, from brainstorming and outlining to revising and refining final drafts.
