Welcome to the pages of the UH Faculty Council website. Here, we hope you will find the informational resources you are looking for. Our goal when developing and managing this website is to bring under one umbrella a variety of links and resources that might impact the day-to-day work of a faculty member. Of course, we wish to also provide information on the workings of the faculty council itself and on all the proceedings and documents related to the council committees. In that sense, the council website is designed to be both “outward-looking,” that is, a resource for UH faculty and “inward-looking,” that is, a resource for faculty council members.

UH Together

As one of the first universities to establish a Faculty Council, UH continues to lead the way in fostering collaboration and shared governance between faculty and administration. Mark your calendars: the first full Faculty Council meeting will take place on September 16, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m in Ballroom (East), #210, Student Center South. We are thrilled to announce that all committees — Curriculum, Faculty Engagement, and Research and Scholarship — have established their meeting time:

  • Curriculum Committee: Second Wednesday of the month, 3-5pm
  • Faculty Engagement Committee: Second Tuesday of the month, 12-2pm
  • Research and Scholarship Committee: Third Friday of the month, 12-1:30pm

 

Each week, we will shine a light on a key SAM or MAPP policy that directly affects faculty. Our goal is to make navigating policies and procedures more straightforward and more transparent — because informed faculty make a stronger UH community.

This week, we are highlighting Parking. 

Parking and Transportation Services is designated by the University Administration as an auxiliary enterprise of the university. With this designation, parking and transportation are required to be self-funded since they receive no funding from the state or the university and therefore must recover the cost for their services. All members of the UH community, including faculty, are required to pay for parking if they want to use campus parking spaces. Multiple permits are available for faculty and staff, including specialty permits such as Monday/Wednesday/Friday, Tuesday/Thursday, and Evening and Weekend permits. Faculty and staff permits are monthly and remain active until canceled or exchanged. All available permits can be found on the individual’s parking portal. Parking permits are sold on a first-come, first-served basis. Parking and Transportation Services also offers additional services, including the COAST program, which provides information on alternative modes of transportation to and from campus.
