Global Pathways

The Global Pathways LeadUH Certificate empowers students to explore global opportunities, engage across cultures, connect with globally focused programs and events, and create a personalized pathway toward becoming active global citizens.
Through workshops, cultural experiences, educational programs, and reflection activities, participants will gain the global attitudes, knowledge, and skills necessary to take action and thrive in an interconnected world.
Learning Outcomes
- Foster attitudes that drive intercultural understanding and engagement.
- Cultivate intercultural knowledge, including global contexts, languages, norms, and values.
- Develop skills that enhance global engagement.
- Engage effectively and responsibly across cultures.
Program Requirements
Step 1: Explore
Attend a Global Programs Information Session
Learn about the many ways to go global at UH through this monthly info session hosted by IGE.
Step 2: Educate
Learn about at least one global program area
Participants attend at least one workshop from the following menu:
- Global Citizens Credential Orientation
- Learning Abroad 101
- Advising with GCC, Peace Corps, or Learning Abroad advisors or program leads
- Learning Abroad Scholarship, REEP, First Gen, or other meetings/info sessions/workshops
- Global After Graduation
- *Other workshops can be considered by IGE leadership
Step 3: Engage
Attend Two Global Engagement Activities
Participants must attend two events from the categories below.
- Learning Abroad events including the Learning Abroad Fairs
- IGE events
- International Education Week Events
- Cultural Events on campus hosted by RSOs
- Global Scholarly Events
- Global Community Events shared by IGE
Step 4: Discover
Discover your global approach and your global leadership plan
- Participants must attend the Global Competence Accelerator (GCA) and submit a Global Citizenships Action Plan as part of the GCA.
- GCA workshops are hosted monthly by IGE.
- Students must complete Steps 1 and 2 prior to attending GCA.
Students are encouraged to participate in one or many of the global programs at UH shared during the Global Pathways program, including the Global Citizens Credential, Learning Abroad, Multicultural Student Organizations, language classes, global majors and minors, international research, global internships, and global career readiness preparation.
