Dr. Sahar Riyad Hamzah is an Instructional Assistant Professor in Media Production at the Jack J. Valenti School of Communication at the University of Houston, where she teaches courses on documentary filmmaking, advanced editing, color grading, screenwriting, and workshops on Blackmagic Design’s DaVinci Resolve. Her short screenplay, The Trouble with Buttons, was selected as winner of the 2020 Women in Film and Television-Houston Short Screenplay Competition.
She is a Digital Intermediate Colorist and Blackmagic Design Ambassador and Certified Trainer. In 2019, she facilitated the University of Houston becoming the first Blackmagic Design Training Partner in the state of Texas.
Hamzah received her Ph.D. in Media and Communication from Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh, Scotland, UK, specializing in Adaptation Studies and the works of Sir Kenneth Branagh.
