Christy Mag Uidhir is Associate Professor of Philosophy. He received his PhD in Philosophy from Rutgers University. His primary area of research is the Philosophy of Art where he has written on issues such as the nature of artistic intentions, pictorial depiction, film authorship, imagination and film fictions, suspense, character acting, film and race, and cinematic evil. His book Art & Art-Attempts (Oxford University Press, 2013) received the American Society of Aesthetics Outstanding Monograph Prize. He also was the 2014-15 recipient of the UH Faculty Award of Excellence in Research, Scholarship, or Creative Activity.
