How does this impact my degree plan?
There should be no impact to your current degree plan.
Resources that you typically use for academic planning such as the degree progress report (DPR), UHin4 maps, and college specific resources will be updated to reflect the new course numbers for Fall 2021. If your degree progress report (DPR) lists the current course number, the new number will also populate correctly into each requirement. A few courses have changed level between lower and advanced upper division. If you have already completed a course, it will continue to be reflected in your degree progress report. For concerns, please check with the academic advisor for your major.
Are my Core classes the same?
Yes. If the course is an approved Core course for Fall 2021 it will still satisfy your Core requirements under the new subject prefix/number/title. See the UH Core list for more information for approved Core courses
Example
Summer 2021 | UH Core designation Summer 2021 | Fall 2021 | UH Core designation Fall 2021 |
ENGL 1303 First Year Writing 1 | Core Communications | ENGL 1301 First Year Writing 1 | Core Communications |
Do I have to do anything for courses I have already taken?
No. Course credit previously awarded under old course titles and numbers will remain intact on your transcript.
Why did you change the courses?
To align with the Texas Common Course Numbering System (TCCNS.org) and ease transfer for students majoring under Texas Field of Study approved programs.
