    Bauer Launches New Degree Program for Healthcare Professionals

    The C. T. Bauer College of Business at the University of Houston is now accepting applications for the Spring 2025 class of the Master of Science in Healthcare Leadership, a new advanced degree program designed to prepare students for professional leadership and administrative careers in healthcare. “Given that Houston is home to the Texas Medical Center, the largest medical center in the world with more than 375,000 healthcare employees, the need for professionals in the field is poised for growth as the population expands and ages,” Associate Dean for Graduate and Professional Programs Leiser Silva said.

    UH’s Andy and Barbara Gessner College of Nursing Earns National Accreditation for Health Care Simulation

    The University of Houston Andy and Barbara Gessner College of Nursing has earned prestigious national accreditation from the Society of Simulation in Healthcare. The College is the first and only college in the greater-Houston area to achieve this accreditation.

    Gessner College of Nursing Commencement Includes First DNP Graduates

    Forty-four students participated in commencement and pinning ceremonies for the University of Houston Andy and Barbara Gessner College of Nursing. The event took place at the Cullen Performance Hall, Friday, May 10 on the UH main campus. The ceremony included students earning undergraduate and graduate degrees, including the inaugural cohort of students from the College’s Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program.

    UH Trains Future Agri-Scientists to Outsmart Climate Change Threats to Food Crops

    Researchers at the University of Houston are training future agricultural scientists in new methods of protecting the world’s food crops – which too often are left vulnerable to extreme weather events in these days of climate change. Funded by a $995,805 grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the team is expanding research knowledge and building a new curriculum for students, many from communities currently underrepresented among the agriculture industry’s leadership.

    UH Population Health Collaborative: Driving Discovery to Advance Quality of Life

    A new University of Houston Population Health initiative uses a multi-sector approach to evaluate and address the most pressing issues impacting quality of life. The UH Population Health Collaborative uses innovative research and analytics to create accessible training and educational resources to fuel positive community quality of life outcomes.

    Research Advances Toward Goal of Net Zero Carbon Emissions

    Scientists may be on the verge of taking a big step closer to the net-zero carbon emissions goal, thanks to University of Houston research into algae. Hidden potential is being revealed in the major algae studies at the microbial products lab, located at UH at Sugar Land. The research project is detailed in a newly published article in Green Chemistry, a journal of the Royal Society of Chemistry.
