Accessible Arts Education for Our Community
Community Arts supports the development and operation of community-serving educational and engagement programs through the Kathrine G. McGovern College of the Arts.
The Community Arts team partners with UH faculty, staff, and artists to create accessible, high-quality arts experiences for Houston communities while providing administrative, operational, and programmatic support. Programs may serve pre-college students, educators, lifelong learners, and community members through workshops, camps, lessons, classes, performances, and other enrichment opportunities.
Community Arts also creates career-expanding opportunities for UH student artists by connecting students and faculty with opportunities to teach, perform for, and collaborate with Houston communities through community-engaged arts experiences. Community Arts provides students with compensation and/or scholarships.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Community Arts can help coordinate and support staffing needs for community programs and events; however, faculty and staff program leads are responsible for identifying and securing appropriate personnel, including volunteers, guest artists, instructors, and UH faculty or staff.
Community Arts can assist with recruitment planning, hiring coordination, and payment processes when applicable. Depending on staff availability, a Community Arts team member may also be able to provide limited day-of-event operational support.
This collaborative approach helps ensure that programs are appropriately staffed while allowing Community Arts to provide guidance, administrative support, and operational expertise.
