Open Call for Papers
LATAM Bridges in The Epistemology of Religion
https://www.uh.edu/class/philosophy/latam/conference/
The aims of our project have been to connect Latin American philosophers working in the epistemology of religion to the broader North American philosophical community. As the project comes to a conclusion, our capstone conference will celebrate these connections by bringing together speakers and participants from both regions. Anyone interested in the topics listed below is welcomed to apply.
Keynote: Robert Audi (Notre Dame)
Conference Topics: We welcome submissions broadly within the following topics:
- Evidence, Agnosticism, and Religious Belief
- Testimony, Disagreement, and Religious Belief
- Science, Debunking, and Religious Belief
- Agency, Virtue, and Religious Belief.
We welcome submissions from all philosophical traditions, from any variety of religious and nonreligious perspectives, and from philosophers at any career stage.
Conference Structure: The conference will be held at the University of Houston. There will be 8 presentations in total (4 on Friday and 4 on Saturday). Aside from the keynote, all presentations will come from the open call for papers. Presentations will last for 45 mins, followed by 30 mins of Q&A. Presentations must be in English and must be based on unpublished work.
Funding: All speakers will have their lodging expenses covered for 3 nights (Thursday through Sunday). Extra funding might be available for speakers unable to access travel funds at their home institutions. Breakfast and Dinners will be provided.
Submission Process:
For full consideration, please submit the following materials to labridge@central.uh.edu no later than Aug 1st, 2023:
