Alumni Spotlight: McKynzie Fort
McKynzie Fort
McKynzie Fort is a California native from Fontana, CA. She graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor of Health and Human Resources in Kinesiology (2018) and recently graduated from the University of Houston with a master's degree in Sport and Fitness Administration (2022).
During her undergraduate years, Fort led the San Diego State Woman's Basketball Program in scoring and became the third leading scorer in school history. She was selected to the Mountain West All-Defensive Team three years, All Mountain West Honorable Mention two years, and Mountain West All Freshman-Team. Additionally, McKynzie Fort was a standout in the classroom as she was named to the Mountain West Academic-Team. Fort participated in the WNBA combines and had overseas offers from several countries including Greece, Turkey, and Sweden.
McKynzie Fort has traveled globally to countries such as the Dominican Republic to participate in community outreach activities and basketball programs with kids. While pursuing her master’s degree she became an Event Program Planner at Landmark Community Center (LCC) in Missouri City, TX. At LCC she helped jumpstart the opening of the center by planning and implementing programs, purchasing equipment, and scheduling cultural activities. Fort has served as a Houston Rockets Youth Camp Coach for the past two years and has coached women's high school basketball at St. Thomas Episcopal where she was awarded coach of the district with her head coach in 2021.
Currently she teaches and coaches high school basketball and volleyball at Dulles High School in Missouri City, TX. Her goal is to become an athletic director.
