Doctoral candidate, Michelle Hernandez, was invited by NIH/NIDCD to attend the inaugural NIDCD Diversity Scholar Workshop. Given her numerous honors, Michelle was asked to provide insight into the transition from a diversity supplement to a fellowship award.

PhD student Sofia Machado presented at the American Cochlear Implant Alliance conference in Vancouver. Her travel was funded in part by a Cullen Graduate Travel Fellowship. Sofia's poster "Exploring the Impact of Home Language Exposure on Spanish Outcomes of Deaf and Hard of Hearing Spanish-English Bilingual Children Who Use Cochlear Implants" was awarded 1st place poster (rehab category).
